Improve your transcriptions

Transcription quality depends on lots of factors. Take a look at the tips below on how to improve your transcriptions and watch the video for more information and some real world examples.

  1. Slow down! (but not too much)
Talking fast makes for poor transcriptions. There's no need to talk at a snail's pace, but make sure you speak at a moderate pace so that every word you say is heard.
  2. Avoid background noise
Just as if you were talking to a person on the phone, Jott will have a hard time understanding what you are saying if there is lots of noise in the background. Try sending your message from a quiet place.
  3. Try not to use slang
You may know how that hip new word you and your friend made up is spelled, but we don't. There are more words out there than you could imagine, but sticking to standard English will help with transcriptions.
  4. Spell out proper nouns
Trouble with names, towns or brands being spelled correctly? Spell them out and we'll transcribe them correctly. For instance, just say "Scorsese, s c o r s e s e".
